・Report by Hans Enderle (1958)

On Friday, September 23, 2006 a national holiday we prayed for our deceased teachers and schoolmates during our annual SJC/SJIS Memorial Service at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Yokohama. The Holy Mass was served in Japanese by a young Korean priest, Father Peter Lee. About 30 alumni attended. We prayed for all who have passed away and especially for those who died during the past year:
Joseph Yoshikazu Negoro (63) - died Spring 2005 Bro. Paul Nomi, S.M. - died December, 2005 Mr. Yoshihiro Nakajima(teacher) - died January, 2006 Masahiko Wada (74) - died March, 2006 Simon Tse (66) - died March, 2006 Hans Metzger (55) - died May, 2006 Masumi Okada (Otto Sevaldsen) (55) - died Mary, 2006 Mamoru Teraki (75) - died July, 2006 Chen, Hung Chang (75) - died July, 2006 George Lo (Lo, Yu The)(73) - died July, 2006 Frantz Fredell (2 years at St. Joe)(65) - died July, 2006 Nick Belonogoff (54) - died Sept. 5, 2006
We thank those who helped with the Mass: Boon Oyama (66), Cecil Baclay(52), Harry Quini (58), Willy Mahr (58) and Hans Enderle (58).
After Mass we walked to the small memorial park on our schoolユs former property and viewed the plaque and memorabilia and took pictures. We then went to the Bluff Cemetery and Harry Quini (58) led us in saying a decade of the Rosary in front of the statue of Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude after we had visited the graves of our beloved teachers. We ended our get-together with a wonderful French buffet lunch at Mutekiro Restaurant in Motomachi which was given to us at a big discount thanks to Nobuharu Suzuki (67) the owner/President. We all received a card of a painting of the statue of Mary, Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude done by Bob Saji (53). We thank George Ozawa (64) for livening up the luncheon by playing the guitar and accompanying the many who sang so well. At the very end we all sang our school song and promised to meet again next year.
Sadly, we have to add that Larry Tanabe (57) who was present at the Mass passed away on Nov. 2nd, 2006. Please pray for the response of his soul.
