Thank You for Coming and Helping
How untimely it is to see many of our friends and a teacher leave us again this
year! Thirty alumni got together at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Sept. 24 at a Memorial
Mass in their honor and remembrance. As always, the Memorial Mass offered by Father
Iino touched the hearts of all attendees, and I ask that you join me once again
to pray for the peaceful resting of the souls of all those who have left us and
to give thanks to our alumni and friends who have dedicated their precious time
and effort to this annual event.
I'm lost for words to express our AssociationŐs gratitude to our great senpai,
Cecil, Hans and Franz for their great arrangements at the Cathedral and in leading
us through our prayers. We are also deeply indebted to John Komor for his kindness
in ushering us through the rich archives of the Foreign Cemetery and to Henry
Akashi who has led us through our prayers on several occasions in the past at
the foot of Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude. To Kureha-san and his staff of Junkaikaku,
we are very grateful for the delicious lunch at such an attractive price and for
the free drinks !!
Last, but certainly not the least, to our group of officers and coops, Hideo Nakanishi,
Yuzz Kanda, Jimmy Patterson, Charlie Chen, Boon Oyama and the many other alumni,
I thank you for your unlimited initiative and assistance.
Hope to see all of you and more of you at our upcoming St. Joseph Festa in November.
