Dear Fellow Saints and Friends of St. Joseph:
On behalf of the officers of the St. Joseph Alumni Association, I would like to
take this opportunity to thank all of you who have so generously made your donation
for the purpose of restoring the statue of Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude at
the Foreign Cemetery. At the same, the same level of appreciation goes to John
Komor, and his successor John Dentici, whose immeasurable dedication has led to
the successful restoration of Our Lady to its immaculate form once again. We are
also most grateful for the donation, which almost covered the entire restoration
cost, collected by the US Chapter under the leadership of George DeCouto.
We have closed our solicitation campaign on July 18, 2010.
Thanks to your kindness, our Association has collected an aggregate of ¥384,002,
of which ¥103,390 has been paid for restoration. And as agreed by the US Chapter,
we will establish a "Mary Fund" as we did before in our financial records
and set aside the balance of ¥280,612 for future restoration costs.
Names of all donors will be inscribed (in alphabetical order) on a plaque which
will be displayed at the Foreign Cemetery.
Thank you so very much for your warm thoughts and the spirit of St. Joe's.
Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude cordially invites all of you to visit Her and
our teachers who rest peacefully at the Foreign Cemetery on September 23 when
we offer our Memorial Mass to all our schoolmates and friends who have passed
this year. A detailed announcement will be posted on our website soon.
As always,
George Koyama ('69)
