July 7, 2002
Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,
Greetings in the name of Our Lord. I trust you are enjoying your summer in God's
blessings both spiritual and physical.
Many of you have perhaps heard of the great news that Berrick Hall has been restored
by the City of Yokohama and is now open for public. It is now back to its original
shape of a beautiful piece of architectural art. What more, through the dedicated
effort and patience of Nobuharu Suzuki with the great help of Ted Takarada, we
were able to include a few displays concerning the history of SJIS in the building.
Some of you may have been boarders at Berrick Hall and many may have fond memories
of the building one way or another.
To give us all a chance to visit the renewed Berrick Hall and share and reminisce
our history, we have organized one afternoon for us to have the place for our
own.
The date is August 15, 2002 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
It has been a year since the relocation of Our Lady of Faith and Fortitude(Mary
Statue of SJIS) and we will have a brief commemorative celebration on the same
day at the Foreign Cemetery(Gaijin Bochi). We shall start at the Gaijin Bochi
from 3 pm and proceed to the Berrick Hall right after for the tour and refreshments.
We are asking for your kind 2,000 yen donation.
Your presence and willingness to share your memories will be most appreciated.
Please do make your best effort to make it to the gathering.
Let me inform you, too, that our annual SJIS Reunion is planned to be held on
October 12, 2002. Please keep yourselves available for the date and await further
updates concerning this event.
May Our Gracious God bless each and everyone of you and yours.
Sincerely yours,
SJIS Alumni Association President
